Sapphos Environmental Office
Pasadena, CA

Sapphos acquired an existing two-story, 11,450 SF office building, located within the East Pasadena Specific Plan Area. The company’s desire to fast track – design through construction completed in five months including all city agency approvals – required a special partnership between Owner-Architect/Engineer-Contractor.
Sapphos, which provides environmental compliance services, had a variety of functional requirements including an archeology lab, three adjacent conference rooms with movable partitions, an open office arrangement, and three-hour fire rated for the network servers. The design and construction met LEED certified status by using recycled demolished construction materials and photovoltaic panels were to be installed on the roof; low VOC paint; native plant landscaping, decomposed granite walkways; low partition walls and added skylights to allow daylight deep into the office area; incorporated salvaged doors for all interior rooms; and insulation made from renewable/natural materials.
