Mr. Carpenter is a founding partner and the CEO of ONYX Architects. He leads the firm’s Education Practice Group and serves as Principal in Charge on all education projects. In addition, he is the firm’s in-house expert on programming and cost-estimating. He has 34 years of architectural experience on projects ranging from large-scale research facilities to performing arts halls to student residences halls to renovations, historic preservation, and adaptive reuse projects.  He was the Campus Architect for the University of Nebraska for 19 years from 1976 to 1995. In that capacity, managed more than 400 projects, a multi-million dollar deferred maintenance budget and the campus “Art and Architecture” program. 

Mr. Carpenter has also been a leader in the use of the AutoDesk Revit program. The program is known as a Building Information Modeler (BIM) using parametrics to design buildings and building systems.  Mr. Carpenter has been using the program since 2000 and is frequently asked to participate in seminars about the program.
