This owner envisioned an 8-unit apartment building with larger then normal one and two bedroom apartments. The site requires a zone change and CUP, and the project needs to comply with the City's new design standards and sustainability requirements.

ONYX provided a contemporary design that works well with the surrounding neighborhood, and provides the best quality building for the Owner's budget.  The units are approached from a pleasant series of walkways and courtyards.  Each unit has ample glazing, yet each a feel of greater accommodation and privacy, due to carefully placed windows. Each unit has accommodating and sheltered outdoor areas, contributing to the function and sense of expansiveness. Innovative ways of accommodating residence with accessibility challenges have been achieved. The parking area, situated under the units avoids the usual dark and dingy feel by providing perimeter area flooded with natural light and landscaping.  This area also provides for recycling by the residents, and bicycle storage.

The overall look of the project is bright, utilizing wood siding and inset tile work, large recessed windows, drought tolerant landscaping, and colorful accent walls. Then end result is a significant contributor to the neighborhood, while providing much-needed quality housing.
