This Zero Net Energy community center at the Cathedral Palms Senior Apartments was designed by ONYX for client National Community Renaissance.
Located in the heart of the desert, the 3,000-square-foot facility features a passive cooling tower to naturally reduce heat gain and serves as the hub of the revitalized senior community.
It includes leasing offices and supportive services spaces for more than 200 seniors, including 68 who have experienced homelessness.
The center also connects residents with resources from the Hope Through Housing Foundation and Riverside University Health System.
Central to its construction is BamCore’s panelized bamboo wall system, a sustainable innovation that enhances thermal performance, lowers energy consumption, and accelerates the building process.
