RELOCATION & PRESERVATION

The project involved the partial demolition, relocation, and rehabilitation of two significant historic homes in Pasadena. The Doane House, a two-story Victorian-style residence, built-in 1895, was relocated on its existing site to accommodate the relocation of the Pinney House, a two-story Spanish Revival-style home from nearly 2 miles away. Each home was rehabilitated to meet strict local and federal historic preservation guidelines as well as updated structural, accessibility, and energy code requirements.

Each residence was also converted into a duplex with the Doane House including a small commercial office space to meet the current zoning requirements for the redevelopment of the site.

Additionally, at the rear of the property, a three-story, five-unit building was designed and constructed, with a mix of one- and three-bedroom units, each with its own private garage.
