COMMUNITY NEEDS
Casa Carmen is a new three-story, on-grade apartment building with 24 one-bedroom apartments for very low-income seniors, plus one two-bedroom manager’s unit; accessory laundry, rental office, and recreation room; 10 on-grade parking spaces; and re-use of HPOZ contributing masonry building façades.
ACCESS TO SERVICES
The new building nestles behind the historic brick street façades and takes advantage of the existing prominent corner entrance. The development is one of the first of its kind to utilize the reduced parking requirements for affordable housing proximate to transit. All units are accessible or adaptable to persons with disabilities, and incorporate advanced features of Universal Design.
